The African Business Angel Network (ABAN) and VC4A are pleased to announce the 8th edition of the Africa Early Stage Investor Summit (# AESIS2021) which will take place online and offline from November 3-5, 2021. The event annual ‘for investors, by this year, investors will shine a light on the new ideas and trends that are invading the startup space in Africa, share best practices, pave the way for powerful new transaction flows, celebrate successes and foster a culture of early investment on the African continent.
Africa is moving forward and upward as the continent’s startups break astronomically records this year. By mid-July, the ecosystem had already raised as much as it had over the whole of 2019 through transactions of more than $ 1 million, so that even before the big raise of OPay funds of $ 400 million, the total amount raised by startups in Africa so far this year has exceeded the total amount raised in 2020 overall ($ 1.6 billion), reaching a new milestone of $ 2 billion in 2021. Coming to # AESIS2021
The summit brings together the most notable speakers and guests from leading angel investor networks, venture capital (VC) funds, impact investors, accelerators, venture capital divisions, industry associations and the public sector during a two-day event with Day 1 focused on angel investors and Day 2 on VCs. Summit delegates will explore developments in Africa’s early stage investment space and set the agenda for years to come.
The 2021 company showcase
This year, 16 leading companies representing the best investment opportunities on the continent joined the portfolio of the Showcase of the company VC4A 2021. The founders will present their companies from Seed and Series A tracks on summit days 1 and 2 respectively, with fundraising ranging from $ 400,000 to $ 20 million. Subsequently, interested investors can secure their seats at the table via the dedicated # AESIS2021 DealRooms held in the week following the summit.
