UPDATE: South Dakota State Websites Are Back Up After Morning Outages

UPDATE 2:01 p.m.

PIERRE, SD (KELO) – South Dakota State Government websites are back up and running on Friday afternoon after facing website outages throughout the morning.

Heather Perry, the deputy commissioner for the state’s office of information and telecommunications, said a test system failed on Friday morning, resulting in hardware failures. Perry said the problem started at 6:53 a.m. and affected all websites and state offices on Friday morning.

Perry said state agents were all reconnected by 9:30 a.m. and at 1:45 p.m. all state websites were back online.

Some South Dakota state government websites are down on Friday morning.

At 9:45 a.m., some of the websites down included SD.gov, the Department of Labor and Regulation website, and the Game, Fish and Parks website.

Dawn Dovre, of the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation, told KELOLAND News that the entire state network was down early Friday, but “systems are starting to come back on line.”

“All the websites still appear to be down, but the IT department is investigating to resolve the remaining issues,” she said.

State websites experienced similar outages in June 2020.

KELOLAND News has contacted the Bureau of Information and Telecommunications for more information.
