Municipal election

The City of Belleville would like to remind residents that the municipal and school elections are fast approaching and will take place on October 24. Belleville Council has approved the exclusive use of internet and telephone voting for the 2022 municipal and school board elections.

The Ontario government has made changes to the Municipal Elections Act since 2018 and residents are encouraged to review this information on the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing website. Nominations for municipal council and school board elections open May 2.

The Town of Belleville reminds all residents to ensure they are registered to vote. Those who have not yet confirmed their registration are encouraged to go online to and verify that their name is on the list and that their information is up to date. Taking this step and making sure you’re on the list now will make the voting process simple and easy when choosing to vote online or by phone.

Restrictions lifted

The City of Belleville wishes to advise residents and motorists that the half-load by-law was lifted on April 21. HGVs have been restricted since mid-February to protect our roads from damage caused by temperature changes. Frost is now off the ground and road damage associated with freezing conditions is no longer a risk.

Garage sale

Yard sale, May 6 and 7, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Westminster United Church, 1199 Wallbridge Loyalist Rd. They have disabled access, an elevator, and ample parking. There will also be a metal depot in the church parking lot from May 2-7.

Giant garage sale

A giant community garage sale will be held at Emmanuel United Church, May 14, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., 458 Ashley St., Foxboro, over 20 tables of goodies. Bring your own bag. Rain or shine.

Cribbage Tournament

Hastings Legion presents its first cribbage tournament on April 30, 2022. There is still room to register. The cost is $10 per person. Registration is between 11 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. and play begins at noon. Food will be available.

Spring Career Fair

Career Edge Campbellford is hosting a Spring Career Fair on Wednesday, April 27 in the Gymnasium at Campbellford District High School, 119 Ranney Street North.

Employers from Warkworth, Hastings, Campbellford, Norwood, Havelock and surrounding areas will attend. The fair takes place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dress to impress and be ready to interview on the spot.

For job seekers who pre-register, their names will be placed in a draw for a gift certificate to a local restaurant of their choice.
