Legendary video game author Hideo Kojima apparently teased the next one Matrix resurrections movie on Twitter, sharing a link to an official site for the beloved sci-fi franchise.
It’s been 18 years since the release of Matrix revolutions, the third installment of the series directed by the Wachowskis, but the franchise is relaunched with the release of the fourth film in December, and fans are excited to hear more about the highly anticipated sequel directed and written by Lana Wachowski.
On Twitter, Kojima recently teased the What Is the Matrix website, which was updated to show video loops of the franchise’s iconic neon green code animating vertically on the screen. TheMatrix.com showed off this visual as well, and fans began to wonder if Kojima is somehow involved in the production of the next movie or if a related game is in development. It’s likely that Kojima is just acting as an influencer to promote the next one, or just a fan of the franchise like the rest of us.
Why the websites were updated remains a mystery, but Warner Bros. may be preparing to release the first trailer for Matrix resurrections, and updates can be part of a promotional campaign. A trailer was revealed with the film’s official title at CinemaCon 2021, but the trailer has yet to be released.
Matrix resurrections stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Eréndira Ibarra, Priyanka Chopra, Andrew Caldwell, Brian J. Smith, Ellen Hollman and Christina Ricci .
