CARIBOU, Maine – Cary Medical Center will host two fundraising events in support of cancer awareness. Cindy Blanchette, Pink Aroostook Program Director, coordinated the Annual Pink Aroostook Golf Scramble and the ACS CAN Lights of Hope exhibit.

The eighth annual Pink Aroostook Golf Scramble will take place on Saturday, September 10 at the Caribou Country Club. “With the COVID-19 pandemic, we have not been able to organize the event for a few years. It’s great to be back,” Blanchette said. The event will feature a hole-in-one, sponsored by Griffeth Ford. There will also be other raffles included. All proceeds from this event will benefit Pink Aroostook, a program that supports breast cancer survivors and helps provide advocacy initiatives throughout Aroostook County.

To register for the Pink Aroostook Scramble, go to https://caribougolf.com/pink-aroostook-golf-scramble/ or call the Caribou Country Club at 207-493-3933. Sponsorship of the hole is $120, a commemorative sign honoring the memory is $50, and the entry fee for a team of four is $100. A golf cart decorating contest will also take place during this event.

In addition to the Pink Aroostook Golf Scramble, Cary will once again host the Lights of Hope Drive-In Exhibit on Friday, September 23, in honor of the American Cancer Society Cancer Actions Network’s Lights of Hope Across America event. Blanchette said, “The Lights of Hope event is a beautiful tribute to someone who survived, someone in treatment, someone who served as a caregiver, or someone who died of cancer.”

The lights will be placed along the hospital driveway around 2 p.m. and will turn on at dusk. To sponsor additional luminaries to display at Cary for $10, or to have a virtual luminary, visit the fundraising page at https://secure.fightcancer.org/site/TR;jsessionid=00000000.app30102a?px=5019501&fr_id=1340&pg=personal&NONCE_TOKEN=502D8DF52CEF972E01FF357FEA5DB5D6.
