A Ukraine invasion vigil planned by the Stobswell community of Dundee for Wednesday evening

The Stobswell Community of Dundee is about to take a stand against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Residents will gather outside the Morgan Academy on Wednesday night to call for peace and stand up against the horrific war.

Starting at 6 p.m., the distinctive blue and yellow Ukrainian national flag will be flown over the school building to keep awareness around the conflict where citizens are being bombarded in their homes, workplaces and schools.

A spokesperson for the Stobswell Forum said they believed that in 2022 “children should not be forced to deal with this type of trauma anywhere in the world”.

And they added: “With this act of solidarity with the people of Ukraine, we remind everyone at Morgan Academy and the Stobswell community that we are not helpless.

“Our communities can change things for the better.”

Everyone is invited to the green in front of the academy between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. tomorrow.
